Getting To Know You: Christianne Baruqui, HR Recruiter
My name is Christianne Baruqui, and I’m an HR recruiter. With over 20 years of HR experience, primarily in the Biotech industry, I decided to join Insource nearly 2 years ago. At Insource, I can utilize and enhance my skills in diverse ways to effectively match the perfect candidate with the right position. I am fortunate to be part of a highly supportive team, and what I particularly enjoy is the chance to collaborate with a wide range of clients. Each day at Insource brings new and exciting challenges, making every day unique.
How did you find Insource?
I started looking for a job in the middle of the pandemic, I thought that what I do could easily be done remotely. I found Insource on LinkedIn, then I was contacted by one of our Corporate recruiters, Tom, who conducted my first interview.
How was the interview process?
I haven’t had a job interview in almost 20 years, but I found it all very straightforward with Insource.
First, I talked to Tom/the recruiter and a few days later he contacted me to set up a second interview. I really enjoyed meeting those that interviewed me, I could see myself working with them. There were two further interviews and a quick assessment. It was an easy-going and well-structured process and everybody was very friendly. Before Insource, I talked to other companies, and I quickly realized that I didn’t want to work in that environment, but when I finished the interviewing process with Insource I felt at ease and when I got the offer, I was excited to join.
What were your main goals going in?
When I was looking for a new position, I knew I wanted a role in an organization with a lot of support and collaboration within HR. Insource offered me a new dynamic challenge, working with all sorts of clients compared to my previous experience at Startups in the Biotech industry.
What was your biggest challenge?
Managing different clients, and management styles from various people, and balancing that with the recruiting part of the role. Working remotely brought challenges around technology for me also, but Insource made this as easy as possible, and I had all the tools I needed to succeed.
What’s your day-to-day like?
A lot of organizational skills are needed to balance support my client’s needs. I start the day by looking at e-mails and prioritizing. Then I check my calendar to make sure that I’m prepared for meetings, interviews, and screenings for the day ahead. I follow up with candidates, hiring managers, and members of my team and keep them updated, making sure we are all on the same page. I make sure all my client’s open positions are updated, and review hundreds of resumes for applicants. I like to read articles or listen to a podcast/webinar relevant to HR to keep myself current.
What opportunities are available to you?
I learn about different industries, learn and help our clients in any way they need, and we have a team of experts that can help with solutions at many different needs. Insource is also open to discussing career development opportunities I might have. We have DEI affinity groups that staff can join to meet with different colleagues at the company and this helps you to feel a part of the company when you work from home like I do.
What is the support like?
In my team the support is great, I can count on any of them for advice or help and cover if I need to be out of the office either for time off or in an emergency. I trust everyone in my team to be able to support my clients, as we all work so closely on things together.
Communication in the HR department is great, we all have our strengths, and we all offer to help each other even if it’s a client that we are not currently working with.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud that I am adaptable, I have been able to help my clients in many ways because of this. I am a people person, so I really enjoy working and helping others. Working in the HR field is right for me because my knowledge and intuition help during the interviewing process, or when I’m consulting with my clients through matters where they need my point of view. During my time here at Insource, I have placed over 170 individuals for an array of clients and knowing that I have paired someone with the perfect job gives me job satisfaction.
Was Insource the right fit for you?
Yes! I was the Director of HR for two different start-ups previously, and recruiting was always my favorite part. Now that I can focus on recruiting for many different clients makes this the right fit for me and doing this with a great team helps a lot.
