Top Ten Security Concerns for Your Holiday Season
With the holiday season upon us, we wanted to share some insight that will help keep things festive and secure. Most holidays seem to relate to a number, we figured 10 is a good number of tips to share for IT Security this holiday season, though we initially came up with a list of 100 tips!
- Be aware of Holiday Hackers, bad people do bad things over the holidays knowing people are on vacation or perhaps distracted.
- Talk with your major vendors to find out what their coverage protection is over the holidays.
- Have a plan with your IT staff for extra monitoring and coverage.
- Train your staff to watch for holiday-crafted email phishing campaigns: set up a verification system to ensure any suspicious requests (like Amazon gift card requests) are really from your coworker.
- Ensure your systems are adequately updated and configured.
- Backup critical data.
- Review and test your incident response plan.
- Notify HR and Finance to watch for malicious activity.
- Secure your remote access.
- Give the gift of peace of mind to your company and Happy Holidays!
